Slovakia and the Schengen Area
Slovakia has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and joined the Schengen Area in 2007. Travelers visiting Slovakia follow the same entry rules as any other Schengen country. There are no border controls between Slovakia and other Schengen states.

Once ETIAS becomes operational in late 2026, all visa-exempt travelers will need an approved ETIAS authorization. It costs EUR 20, is completed online, and is valid for up to 3 years.
ETIAS requirements for Slovakia
You will need a valid biometric passport, an email address, and a payment method. The application takes about 10 minutes. Your ETIAS is valid for all 30 ETIAS-required countries.
